ABSTRACT

 

Questo libro raccoglie gli studi e le ricerche relative al restauro della Basilica di San Francesco dopo dieci anni dal devastante terremoto che ha colpito l’Umbria (26 settembre 1997). Giuseppe Basile dal 1976 è funzionario storico d’arte presso l’Istituto centrale del restauro (Ministero Beni Culturali), dove dal 1987 dirige il Servizio per gli interventi sui Beni artistici e storici. Dall’anno accademico 1991/92 è docente presso la Scuola di specializzazione in Storia dell’arte all’Università “La Sapienza” di Roma (Teoria e storia del restauro delle opere d’arte), dal 1995 è membro ordinario della Pontificia Commissione per i Beni culturali della Chiesa e della Pontificia Commissione per l’Archeologia sacra.
